Handmade paper and brass pendant lamp glowing warmly in a dim limewash plaster room

Lighting — 2025

Ember Pendant

Design intent

Made to order

Light held in paper, dimmed to the hour after sunset.

Most interior lighting is calibrated for work. We design for the last two hours of the day, when the body should be preparing to rest.

Handmade paper diffuses without glare, and the brass carrier warms as the lamp runs — a quiet reminder that light is heat.

Specification

Materials

  • Hand-formed kozo paper shade, torn edge
  • Raw brass carrier and canopy, unlacquered
  • Textile-braided cord, undyed
  • 2200K dim-to-warm source, 90+ CRI

Dimensions

  • Shade 420 mm diameter × 380 mm high
  • Drop adjustable 600–1800 mm
  • Canopy 90 mm diameter
  • Weight 1.8 kg

Craftsmanship

  • Each shade is formed over a timber mould and dried slowly; edges are torn, never cut.
  • Brass is left raw so it darkens unevenly with handling.
  • Shades are replaceable — the carrier is designed to outlive the paper.
